RAPID-FIRE Q/A
Three words to describe you? Curious, Appreciative, Cross-pollinator

What was your first arts "aha" moment, including how old were you? Our 2nd Grade teacher had us enter a Valentines Day art contest and I won! It was so fun to do the project which, was a collage. Our teacher let us use every shade of red, pink, and purple construction paper available and I made a fox entirely out of heart shapes. I was given a box of Campfire Candy which was fun to share with my family.

Why are you a teaching artist? Young artists remind me of the delight and enjoyment I experienced while making art as a child. You tend to feel that your sense of time passes differently and it is empowering to be sure of oneself while making creative decisions.

In five words or less, why do you love your art form? Uniquely expressive and accessible

Finish the sentence: "Because of Arts Ed..." I tried new things and discovered new ways to communicate.

What does success look like during your residency? A willingness to try something new in order to reach a new understanding, and delight in the result.

What’s an important life skill you gained through the arts? You CAN do what you love.

Who is an artist that changed your life? Julia Hoerner. She mentored me in art school.

If you were entering a talent show, what would be your specific talent? I would tell corny jokes.

Do you have a secret (or not so secret) obsession? Paper and glue
