SPARK! Digital Badges

SPARK! Arts Ignite Learning offers professional development credentials through a digital badge system. This provides an opportunity for educators to be recognized for achievements in arts integration training.

What is a DIGITAL BADGE? Badges are digital tokens that appear as icons or logos on a web page or other online venue.  A SPARK digital badges recognizes learning and achievement in arts integration training.  Educators can earn credentials in dance, theatre, visual arts, media arts, cultural arts, and fundamentals of arts integration.

How does it work? After attending a SPARK! Arts Integration training session and completing all requirements for each session, participants will receive an email link to retrieve their badge.  The participant then pushes the badge into a “backpack,” a portfolio-style server account, where this award is stored alongside badges from other grantors. Badge recipients can choose to keep their awards private or display some or all of them on selected websites, social media tools, platforms, or networks.

Why? Badges represent a different approach to credentials, one that places the focus on individual students and their learning accomplishments.  Badges reflect educational experiences beyond the classroom and when serving as part of a résumé or portfolio, tell prospective employers a more detailed story about the projects and activities that define your professional training.
