FOR TEACHING ARTISTS
SPARK! residencies typically involve multiple sessions that fit within daily class schedules. Classroom teachers and artists work together to build a residency that integrates the arts with subjects such as science, language arts, and math. SPARK! also supports and promotes arts for art’s sake and culturally specific art forms.

FOR COLLABORATING ORGANIZATIONS
By fostering collaborations between district schools and local arts organizations, we help ensure access to the arts for all MCPS students. If your organization would like to offer arts education activities for students, please review the following information.
HOW IT WORKS
All community organizations offering arts education activities for district schools are asked to follow SPARK procedure.
In order to receive district funds for your organization to provide services, you must be recognized and registered as an official SPARK collaborating organization.
Major collaborations and events must be discussed with the SPARK team prior to the application.
Acceptance through this application process ensures your organization’s designation as a collaborator for the current school year.
As a collaborating organization, you will be listed on the SPARK online directory. This is the district’s resource for information concerning arts residencies, workshops, and events.
Your application will be reviewed by a SPARK working team that consists of a combination of district employees and community members. Upon acceptance, we will update the directory to include your information. Our review process for directory updates is ongoing. After acceptance, we can update your offerings as needed throughout the year. This flexibility allows for educators and district administration to utilize your resources more efficiently and to know of current offerings.
Teaching Artist Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2017-2018 school year. We will accept new applications for 2018-2019 beginning in March 2018.
To be filled out collaboratively at the teacher/artist planning meeting
